About Me

Why You Should Work With Me
Family dynamics are always changing; especially in the teenage years. We know there can be mixed and very strong emotions around Kighting for independence and also Kighting for control.
Everyone has their own unique way of approaching and responding to expressing their feeling and emotions. Behavior can change and many young people start feeling alone and isolated; especially in this climate of “post-pandemic.” Sometimes it’s one meeting with Heidi and sometimes it’s a series. We Kigure this out together.
Parents are our Kirst teachers, and while it’s critical for parents to support their child, it’s not always received the way we want it or expect it to be. Young people might not feel conKident approaching certain topics to discuss. They can feel embarrassed, judged or they might not even know why they are feeling the way they are.
Having an impartial source of support can be key for everyone involved.

My Story
For the last 16 years, Heidi has held various positions working in education, advocacy and restorative practices with adults and teenagers. She has written curriculum on parenting, reproductive health and sexuality, and facilitated parenting classes.
She was a Health Educator in public schools where she worked directly with young people around sexual health, wellness, stress management and goal setting. She is a trained mediator, skilled in ACES (Adverse Childhood Experience Study), “It’s That Easy” curriculum: a guide to raising sexually and healthy children, and as a restorative practitioner where she guided topics in circle around conflict skills, responding to harm, and building community.
She has three teenagers of her own between 16-19 and holds her Masters in Public Affairs from The Humphrey School at the University of Minnesota and Restorative Practice Skills from The University of Minnesota School of Social Work. She is also the Creator and Host of the Podcast “Parent Town.”

Heidi is not a therapist. She does not diagnose or solely focus on mental health or emotional healing. Her role is to offer holistic, impartial, and trustworthy support without judgment and create a confidential and safe space to share anything from friends to school to family life and much more.
Youth life coaching is a specialized form of life coaching focused on helping young individuals navigate challenges, improve emotional well-being, set and achieve goals, seek self-awareness and self-reflection, and develop essential life skills to enhance their personal and academic growth. We focus on the present day and into the future. It’s a proactive approach. Heidi’s goal is always to support and motivate young people to make positive choices, build resilience, and reach their full potential during this critical phase of development and possible transitions. Her coaching age groups are usually 13-24 and also for parents.
“I help young people find their own voices and recognize their own power and worth. I look at myself as more of a “Guide” or “Coach”…I don’t give all the answers or a correct way of doing things because their experience is theirs. We work together to find tools that are necessary for young individuals to navigate challenges effectively.
Young people are amazing and can absolutely figure things out for themselves, find solutions, be a part of setting their own goals, and overcome challenges. Sometimes they just need a gentle point in the right direction and another trusted adult to talk to. "
